Within Me is a sculpture about the endless journey inward.

Created for the 7th International Wood Sculpture Festival, organized by the Odunpazarı Municipality of Eskişehir, the work draws its inspiration from the words of the 13th-century Anatolian poet and mystic Yunus Emre:

"There is a self within me, deeper than the self I know."

​

Rather than illustrating the verse, the sculpture explores its essence: the idea that beneath the visible self lies another presence, untouched by time or place.

​

Every carved layer, every opening, and every void becomes a trace of an inward journey. The wood is not shaped to conceal its history, but to reveal the unseen spaces where identity is continually formed.

Within Me is not a portrait of a person, but an invitation.

​

It invites the viewer to move beyond appearance, to encounter the quiet depth within themselves, and to reflect on the invisible self that exists beyond definition.

For sometimes the longest journey is not across the world, but inward.
